This year, Disney's Family Channel will be running its 12th Annual 25 Days of Christmas.  Running from December 1st through December 25th, the Family Channel runs Christmas programs including holiday animation specials, movies, premiere television events and more.  Songs to Celebrate 25 Days of Christmas is an album released by Walt Disney Records featuring some of the most enjoyable songs from the various programs featured during this 25 day event.

The day I popped this album into the CD player, I was feeling lousy with a nasty cold.  Listening to the Songs to Celebrate 25 Days of Christmas actually perked me up a bit.  I was actually sad that I couldnít sing along with the CD, but I didnít want to choke myself silly, as much as I loved each selection.  Filled with timeless classics like Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You, Winter Wonderland, What Christmas Means to Me, Itís the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Silver Bells, Frosty the Snowman and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, this CD is the perfect album to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Some of the songs are performed by your classic singers such as Jimmy Durante, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Fred Astaire and Mickey Rooney, but there are also some great renditions of classic favorites performed by newer artists like Alexa Vega, Hillary Duff, Chelsea Williams, Tim Davis, Hanson and more.

Of course, as with most albums, there are some songs that will rub you the wrong way.  For me, it was Mr. Heatmiser performed by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  I have always loved the original ragtime song as performed by George S. Irving and Dick Shawn in the Rankin/Bass Christmas classic, The Year Without a Santa Claus.  The remake, complete with a revamping of the song, just doesnít quite cut it.  I would have rather had the original version of the song on this album, but if that is the only song on the soundtrack that is a problem, Iíd say that this is a pretty decent album.

Songs to Celebrate 25 Days of Christmas is the perfect album to get you into the holiday spirit.  I have a very select few albums that I love to listen to during the holiday season and Songs to Celebrate 25 Days of Christmas has just been added to that select few.  This is definitely a great Christmas album for kids and adults alike.
