Beyond Death's Door
by Melissa Minners
What lies for thee beyond death's door?
I doubt anyone really knows for sure.
Some say evergreen pastures and happiness aplenty
Of heartache and pain there will me no memory.
Others believe there will be suffering galore
To atone for your sins and those who came before.
Still others contend that nothing lies
Beyond the moment when one dies.
Some say after last's breath you go toward the light.
Others say there is endless night.
Some say death leads to life anew,
Born again...into what? That depends on you.
Who knows for certain? Which belief is true?
No one knows for certain until it happens to you.
And who could you tell if you learned there is more
Lying before you beyond death's door?
