Born and raised in the Bronx, Lauren Hunt has been in love with music since she was a child.  That love inspired her to try out for the acclaimed and highly competitive Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, and the Performing Arts.  Having been accepted to the school known as the “fame school”, Lauren used the education she received there to further hone her singing and songwriting skills.  Soon after graduation, Hunt began performing in local venues around New York City, such as The Cutting Room.  While performing, Hunt continued to write songs, citing influences by performers and songwriters such as Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, and Carol King.  Recently, Lauren put together a mix of six songs and released it under a self-titled EP.

The Lauren Hunt EP features songs of varying genres, an obvious effort to show listeners Hunt’s range as an artist.  The mix works perfectly.  No matter what the genre – blue, rock, pop, country – Lauren Hunt’s rich, melodic voice shines through.  The songs featured on the EP are mostly somber, speaking of the hardships of life and lost love, but some are hopeful, such as Give Her Some Time and Take It Slow, both about the scary concept of love and dealing with the bumps in the road that crop up.

Lauren Hunt’s talent, as evident on this self-titled EP, has not gone unnoticed.  She was recently selected to perform in the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s “New Writer’s Showcase”, the National Project Director, Bon Leone, commenting that of the several hundred who submitted materials to the committee, “She’s got it!”  Hunt has also opened for STYX at the New Jersey Ballooning Festival, sold out the Triad Theater in the Upper West Side of New York, appeared on the WB 11 Morning News singing the weather, and has performed duets with singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw.

It is obvious that Lauren Hunt is well on her way in the music industry.  The strength of her vocal talents and power of her lyrics will take her far.  Check out the Lauren Hunt EP and discover what the local music industry people are starting to recognize – that Lauren Hunt is a star in the making.
