Summer had just reached its end and fall had begun, the leaves starting to change colors and fall from the trees.  I had just come to accept the coming of the new season and the fact that Halloween was right around the corner when I checked my mailbox and was shocked to discover the CD I had just received from Disney.  Not a Halloween CD mind you, but a Christmas CD - Phineas and Ferb: Holiday Favorites.  Overcoming my initial shock and realizing that releasing a Christmas CD at this time of year would offer folks plenty of time to purchase it before the holiday, I sat down to take a listen.

Phineas and Ferb is an animated television comedy series that first made its debut in the year 2007.  The show has become a favorite among kids, featuring new and amusing stories for kids, tweens and families.  The series has spanned over 100 episodes and has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in Animation.  Phineas and Ferb: Holiday Favorites would mark the second album release from Phineas and Ferb.

The music on Phineas and Ferb: Holiday Favorites features all of the tracks from last yearís digital EP, Christmas Vacation, and ten brand new songs.  The Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation holiday special features our favorite characters working to turn the city of Danville into a giant shimmering thank you card for Santa Claus over Christmas Eve.  Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz is busy developing a Naughty-inator, clouding the area in naughtiness and causing the childrenís letters to Santa to be returned unopened.  Can Phineas and Ferb spread enough holiday cheer to persuade Santa that Danville is filled with good little children thereby stopping Dr. Doofenschmirtz from destroying Christmas?

The soundtrack features well known Christmas songs as well as some new ones, performed by the cast of Phineas and Ferb and various other artists including Bowling for Soup and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  I love the rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas as performed by the cast of the show - each day brings something different and exciting explicitly designed for that particular cast member.  Too funny!  The remakes of songs like Let It Snow, Frosty the Snowman, Run Rudolph Run, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and We Wish You A Merry Christmas are terrific and fun to sing along with.  New songs to the Christmas season include I Really Donít Hate Christmas, a hilarious song sung by the evil Dr. Doofenschmirtz, and Good King Wenceslas redesigned hysterically by Baljeet and Buford.

All and all, Phineas and Ferb: Holiday Favorites is a truly fun Chirstmas album.  I have never seen the television series and yet I found myself laughing and singing along with every song on the album.  Fans of Phineas and Ferb will love this album.  Fans of Christmas in general will enjoy it just as much.  I canít wait to check out the Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation holiday special and put some faces to the hilarious voices on this album.
