Badseed's Bottomline #334

Countdown to Freshness

By Badseed

Hey yo!  What's poppin' fools.  This is your #1 Internet Wrestling Columnist Badseed back at you with another weekly edition of the Bottomline.  Last week, the fans wrote a vast majority of my column for me and I am very thankful.  A lot of good insight was made.  The fans have a voice and so do I and I just wish Vince McMahon attempted to listen.  Anyways, I am thankful to all my readers for their support.  John Cena says it's about real seeing real.  Well, it doesn't get no realer than me.  I have opened my life up to all my readers and I look forward to writing every week.

This week, I am excited.  Why?  Well, Smackdown moved to Friday and we are only a few weeks away from the biggest moves in wrestling since the Monday Night WarsWWE had to move Smackdown to Friday and that may be a good thing.  We all know most wrestling fans will tune in to wrestling no matter what time it is on as long as the show is worth watching and if they can't see it, they will tape it.  With this being the last year of Smackdown's contract with UPN, I think Smackdown will become a better show so the WWE can show UPN up and possibly work on a better contract with either UPN, USA or another channel looking to add wrestling to its lineup.  So, I expect to see a lot of good things happening in the weeks and months ahead.

First, this Friday's show looks very promising.  It gets Smackdown off to a good start.  Second, I like the new talent coming in.  Mr. Kennedy is awesome.  He has great charisma and can really wrestle.  I have really enjoyed his unique gimmick and look forward to more.  Loving that top rope finisher.

Third, I like the complex storyline involving Booker T, Sharmell and Christian.  I don't know where they are going with it, but I think we are in for an interesting team in the near future and I think Chris Benoit better watch out.  You can't defeat Booker T or Christian in 22 seconds.

Fourth I like the new tag-teams on SmackdownRegal and Burchall, Mexicools, FBI, MNM and LOD.  There are more teams than ever before on Smackdown so maybe those straps are about to get some attention again.

Fifth, although it is on Velocity, there is actually a cruiserweight storyline going on with Paul London and I like it.  I taped Velocity just to see more.  It seems they are playing off his real frustration and that is a good thing for television.  The best characters are the most real characters and with Velocity gone, this story could continue into Smackdown

Finally, the constant one-upmanship between UPN and Teddy Long makes for a tiny wrestling war, which pushes better matches as part of the storyline.  This angle is only about pleasing the fans.  A bull-rope match and cage match on free television.  Got to love it.  Raw will be moving to USA in October and we have a packed lineup for sure.  The WWE is pulling out all the stops.  We will see the return of HHH.  We will see the start of a Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin war.  Mick Foley may come back.  It's going to be a good time to be a fan of WWE when they go back home.  USA and WWE always seem like a natural fit and I look forward to seeing how they work with each other especially as the WWE moves forward with interesting storylines.

First, the revitalization of Ric Flair.  When Flair came out a bloody mess, I popped big time.  There was something about that moment that seemed so old school to me.  I loved it.  I felt like Ricky Morton was in the WWE.  I don't want him to win the IC title, but I would like to see him elevate Carlito to new heights.  This is a feud I am really looking forward to and maybe Flair will feel a Flair for the Gold and try to win one more big one.

If they don't like Chris Masters vs. HBK, too bad.  I enjoy it.  I really like how they seem to work together.  I think Masters has already shown improvement and that's all we can ask for.  How will the match be?  We will have to see, but when all is said and done, it is a fresh match that should prepare Masters for the future.

Shelton Benjamin and Rob Conway showed why they deserve more attention.  They really lit it up in the ring and Kerwin White actually entertained me in his role.  This match actually served a purpose to continue Conway's push while pushing the new feud.  You have to admit that Benjamin vs. White will be a great match.

Murdoch and Cade vs. Hurricane and Rosey was an old school NWA tag-team match.  I liked it.  I like the team of Murdoch and Cade.  I think tag-teams could be good again in the WWE.  Vis and Venis, Heart Throbs, Hurricane and Rosey, Murdoch and Cade.  Keep them coming.

Matt Hardy vs. Edge got really interesting again last week.  I think this feud will deliver when all is said and done.  I think the WWE gives us something exciting and then pulls back and then hits us hard again.  It works, because last week's drama brought the feud back to life and the cage match is sure to excite the fans.  Could a ladder match be next with Edge's briefcase on the line?

Cena vs. Angle has been masterfully played.  The matchup is exciting and actually seems new despite the battles they had on Smackdown.  If only the WWE was smart enough to have them replay Cena's entrance to the WWE and how now it is Cena on top and Angle having to be ruthless to win the match and the odds.  That would be a great way to continue this feud should Cena win their first PPV match.

There is no more Heat or Velocity and that may be a good thing.   Rather than cut wrestlers, it is time the WWE used them better in tag-teams.  Already Venis and Viscera are being used in this way.  That booking actually makes sense.  I hope more of this will follow.

Finally TNA is going to Spike TV and ads are already starting.  I can't wait.  TNA is already great.  Matches between Samoa Joe and AJ Styles could soon be on national television, but fans could also see a new crop of former WWE big name stars make it big and we all know that at least for the moment TNA will have to pull out all the stops when it comes to booking matches, stars and big events for the Saturday telecasts if they are ever going to make a big splash on Spike

It feels so good to be a wrestling fan.  The summer may be over, but October is going to be one hot month.  So, that does it for this week.  Keep coming back.  Next week, I will talk about all the good stuff in wrestling, like the cool angle with Flair this week.  Until then Be sure to check out the message board at where there is a spirited conversation going on about the battle between HBK and Hulk Hogan, the return of Bret Hart and much much more.  Have a voice of your own.  Get popped.  Sign up and give us your thoughts.    Well, thatís all the time I have.    Peace
