If I Could Catch The Light
by Rowena Kemp
If I could catch the light
One single candle would make
I’d sow it into my heart
So I’d never be cold again
If I could catch the light
One bright star would make
I’d put it in my room
So I’d never be afraid of the dark
If I could catch the light
Of the sad sad moon
I’d place it over the roads
And guide a weary traveler home
But I wouldn’t want
To catch the light of the sun
For it keeps me warm during the day
And frightens the dark away.
And,
with the sun
I’ll always find my way home.
