Jump In! is a Disney Channel original movie featuring Corbin Bleu as Izzy Daniels, a teenage competitive boxer from Brooklyn with enough talent to compete for the Golden Gloves. Winning the Golden Gloves award is the dream of Izzyís father. Izzy, however, has other plans. Accidentally stumbling upon the world of Competitive Double Dutch, Izzy is hooked, much to the chagrin of ex-girlfriend Mary Thomas (Rene Palmer), leader of the Joy Jumpers, a team that Izzy has decided he wants to join. Izzy must now choose between his fatherís dream of a life in the world of competitive boxing or a dream of his own, becoming one of the few boys to enter a Double Dutch Championship team.
The Jump In! Soundtrack, produced by Walt Disney Records features various artists and contains a theme to go along with the uplifting tone of the movie. The tracks are mostly R&B and Hip-Hop music with lyrics meant to inspire todayís youth. Though most of the stars of Jump In! are teenagers, the music found on the soundtrack is a mix of music geared toward both the younger and older crowd. Verticle by T-Squad and Jump to the Rhythm by Jordan Pruitt feature younger artists and are geared toward that generation of movie-goer whereas songs like Where Do I Go From Here by Sebastian Mego are more thought provoking and geared at an older generation.
If you listen carefully to the album, you may hear some throwbacks to an older generation of music as well. The third track of the album, Push It To the Limit by Corbin Bleu, is reminiscent of Ď80s dance music. Jump by Lilí Josh has a beat reminiscent of the old Jump by Kriss Kross. Itís that mix of dance, R&B, Hip-Hop and Reggae that make the Jump In! Soundtrack upbeat and highly enjoyable. The tracks and the beats will literally make the listener dance in their chair.
The Jump In! Soundtrack also contains special internet features. Just pop the CD into your computer and you have exclusive access to videos, new music, the Jump In! official website and more. The Jump In! Soundtrack perfectly compliments the uplifting, reach for the stars attitude of the movie. Itís also designed to be a stand alone album and achieves that goal perfectly.
