Jim Brickman began his musical career as a college student writing commercial jingles.  He soon turned his focus toward romance, a  move that launched his recording career and sped him onward to fame with several Top 40 radio hits, a Platinum-selling album, four Gold records and a 2003 Grammy nomination.  Brickman has also received world-wide fame as a concert performer.  He’s received the SESAC “Songwriter of the Year” Award, the Canadian Country Music Award for Best Vocal / Instrumental Collaboration, and a Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association for his holiday album, The Gift.  Fans of music know Jim Brickman best for songs like The Gift, Simple Things, Valentine, and more.  However, composing award-winning music is not Jim Brickman’s only passion.  He also hosts a weekly syndicated radio show, Your Weekend with Jim Brickman, and has authored two best-selling books of essays, Simple Things and Love Notes: 101 Lessons from the Heart.

On October 4, 2005, Jim Brickman brought his musical talents to Walt Disney Records.  The partnership produced an amazing album entitled, Jim Brickman: The Disney Songbook, a compilation of Disney movie tracks given a new twist by the talents of Jim Brickman and singers such as Kimberly Locke, Wayne Brady, Lila McCann and more.  To say that Brickman is a talented pianist does not sum up his contribution to the World of Disney.  Anyone who can take a medley of Mary Poppins songs like Chim Chim Cher-ee, Feed the Birds, Let’s Go Fly A Kite, Stay Awake and Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious and turn them into classical music is absolutely amazing.

The choice of Wayne Brady to sing the vocals on the track Beautiful, a song created for the Special Edition version of Cinderella, was perfect.  Wayne Brady has always been a well-loved performer, but is better known for his comedy.  His incredible singing voice is often overlooked.  Fortunately, Walt Disney Records saw fit to put these two incredible performers together for a remarkable love song that will thrill audiences as much as Beauty and the Beast, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, and more.  Jim Brickman: The Disney Song Book, contains a special treat – the Beautiful music video containing scenes from Cinderella.

The album also contains a terrific rendition of A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes by Kimberly Locke and one of the most beautiful versions of Baby Mine artistically sung by Kassie DePaiva, star of One Life to Live.  However, Jim Brickman: The Disney Song Book is not completely filled with love songs or slow tracks.  There are rousing renditions of Cruella DeVil, When I See an Elephant Fly, and Zip-A-Dee-Dooh-Dah to keep you dancing in your seat.  The album ends with the Disney classic When You Wish Upon A Star performed by Brickman without vocal accompaniment – a highly appropriate ending for any Disney Songbook.

Jim Brickman: The Disney Song Book is a must buy for Disney music fans, Jim Brickman fans and music lovers in general.  The album is highly enjoyable and will delight audiences of all ages.  It makes a perfect edition to anyone’s music collection.
