Focus Features 10th Anniversary: A Collection of Film Scores was released in CD format on January 29, 2013.
Focus Features 10th Anniversary: A Collection of Film Scores features musical scores from such notable artists as Marcelo Zarvos, Howard Shore, Alexandre Desplat, Danny Elfman, Alberto Iglesias, Dario Marianelli and more. The music comes from critically acclaimed films such as Brokeback Mountain, Atonement, The Constant Gardener, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Jane Eyre, Milk, The Door in the Floor, Sin Nombre and more.
This album contains some of the most enjoyable music I have listened to, from the oriental-based themes of Lust, Caution's Wong Chia Chi's Theme and the Eastern Promises theme to the beautiful piano theme of Ted and Marion from The Door in the Floor to the guitar theme of The Wings from Brokeback Mountain. There are extremely original tracks like Briony's Theme from Atonement, featuring the dramatic use of a typewriter as an accentuating musical instrument, and the electronic dance sound of Container Park from Hanna.
Focus Features 10th Anniversary: A Collection of Film Scores features a variety of sounds and genres and offers up an interesting look at the varying styles of some of the most interesting composers of the past decade. I enjoyed this album so much that I have listened to it numerous times already. This is definitely a must-listen for any fan of film music scoring.
