In the historical dramatic film, Goodbye Christopher Robin, Domhnall Gleeson is A.A. Milne, author of the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh children’s book series.  The movie explores the relationship between Milne and his son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston).  Struggling to write the novel he has chosen to create, Milne finds himself walking through the woods with his young son, creating tales about the adventures of the boy’s stuffed animals.  But as he turns those adventures into money making children’s books, the international success and constant public exposure threaten to drive a wedge between Christopher and his father.

The musical score of Goodbye Christopher Robin was created by American composer and performer Carter Burwell who has created music for over eighty films.  Having performed in New York with several bands, Burwell wrote Christopher Cross’ 1981 hit, Sailing.  Nominated numerous times for his score for Carol, Burwell has also created musical score for such notable projects as Anomalisa, Raising Arizona, Gods and Monsters, Velvet Goldmine, Being John Malkovich, A Knight's Tale, The Rookie, No Country for Old Men, The Blind Side, The Kids Are All Right, True Grit, The Finest Hours and more.

The Goodbye Christopher Robin Soundtrack features a musical score that mixes orchestral instruments with acoustic guitar.  From the move that made the walks in the woods possible (Cotchford Farm) to Toys and Stars and Into the Forest, the score has that magical feeling of wonderment.  You can almost picture the look on Christopher Robin’s face as his father spins his tales for him.  And yet, there is that somber undertone as in Tree of Memory, Down the Stairs Nobody Cares, Not Another Word, Private Milne and Billy Leaves, in which one is reminded of the rift between father and son that fame and public appearances caused after the Winnie-the-Pooh books became an international sensation.

The Goodbye Christopher Robin Soundtrack is quite an entertaining listen with a sense of wonderment and magic mixed in with moments of retrospection and sadness.  The Goodbye Christopher Robin Soundtrack is a well-rounded score that is bound to please any fan of well-composed music.
