In A Haunted House 2, the sequel to the 2013 comedy horror film, Marlon Wayans returns as Malcolm Johnson.  Having lost his last girlfriend Kisha (Essence Atkins) to demonic possession and eventually a fatal car crash, Malcolm has moved on.  Finding love with Megan (Jaime Pressly), a single mother of two, he finds a new home for his new family, only to discover that he hasn't quite shaken the paranormal activity that has been plaguing him since the first film, with one added twist...Kisha has returned from the dead.

The soundtrack of A Haunted House 2 features nine songs by various artists like Shinobi Ninja, Sean Harris & Saint Maurice, Mazen, Dula & Khalifa, The Upperclass Men and more, and two tracks of musical score by Jessie Voccia.  A multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer, Jessie Voccia has composed musical scores for a number of well-known films, including I Will Follow You Into the Dark, Splinters, Ca$h and Game of Death.  He has also composed additional music for such notable films as Sex and the City, The Proposal, The Last Song, Why Did I Get Married Too? and Akeelah and the Bee

The album opens with Voccia's The Bedeviled Batch which seems to be a mix of various cues, some featuring spooky sounds, some featuring dark orchestral tones and others featuring quick, quirky, comedic notes.  It closes with Frightful Finale, a spooky track featuring electronic and ambient sound that will raise the hair on the back of your neck.  The rest of the album is filled with rap music featuring head-bob worthy mixes and beats and excellent hooks.  Although the explicit lyrics have nothing really to do with the film, I found the songs to be rather enjoyable.  My favorites were Concern..., Turn It Up, Wanna Fly and Chuck Norris, featuring awesome hooks and great beats.

The soundtrack of A Haunted House 2 works great as a standalone album and as background music for a spoof horror comedy film.  The score works for the genre, featuring just enough comedic cues mixed in with spooky sound effects and ambient sound.  The songs are just enough to keep the adrenaline pumping and add flavor to the visuals.  A Haunted House 2's soundtrack is a lot of fun to listen to and a great addition to any rap fan's music collection.
