In the Netflix series, Julie's Greenroom, Julie Andrews, her assistant Gus (Giullian Yao Gioiello), puppet friends called the Greenies and guest stars like Alec Baldwin, Carol Burnett, David Hyde Pierce, Ellie Kemper and more teach about the arts. Brought to life by The Jim Henson Company, this all new arts educational show is aimed at introducing very young children to the various art mediums, like singing, dancing, performing, painting and more.

The musical score of the series was created by Grammy and Emmy Award nominated composer, songwriter, musician and conductor Ryan Shore.  In addition to his work as Assistant Music Director, Contributing Composer, Arranger and Orchestrator credits for the 87th Academy Awards, Shore has created music for film, television, virtual reality, games, records and theater.  Some of Ryan Shore’s credits include The X Factor, Sesame Street, Numb, Cabin Fever 2, The Girl Next Door, SpyHunter, Prime and the upcoming animated series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny

The songs from the series are performed by the various actors and actresses appearing in the show or lending their voices to the Greenies, such as Julie Andrews, Giullian Yao Gioiello, John Tartaglia, Jennifer Barnhart, Frankie Cordero, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Dorien Davies, Alec Baldwin, Tituss Burgess, David Hyde Pierce, Carol Burnett and Tyler Bunch.  I found the songs to be quite entertaining.  Not only are they catchy and perfect for kids to sing along with, they actually teach kids about using their imaginations, whether in a theater setting (Anything Can Happen at the Theater, Someone Else's Shoes), inventing new stories (Yes And), or just simply taking chances in life, even when you’ve made mistakes (Take A Leap).  The moments of musical score are interspersed between songs and probably represent moments in which the characters are engaged in performance art (Juggling & Handstands, Sticky Handshake, Circus Day).

I found the Julie's Greenroom Soundtrack to be incredibly entertaining and believe the songs to be perfect tools in teaching kids how to put their imaginations to good use.  I enjoyed the album so much, I recommended it to family members whose children are just the right age to really enjoy a show like this.  Kudos to The Jim Henson Company, Julie Andrews, Netflix and all those involved in this great new project.
