            The Lion of Judah, which opened in theaters June 3, 2011, is the first 3D animated family-friendly, faith-based movie.  It stars Georgina Cordova as Judah the Lamb.  When Judah is taken by the local townspeople to become a sacrifice, it is up to his friends at the Bethlehem stable to come to his rescue.  Led by a clever mouse named Slink (Ernest Borgnine) and a motherly cow named Esmay (Sandy Patti), the stable animals make their best efforts to try to save Judah, but it just isnít enough.  Only one individual can stop Judah from become a sacrifice, but will he help?

            The soundtrack of The Lion of Judah was created by Greg Sims, an award-winning composer, arranger, orchestrator and producer of film music whose background in classical and jazz music, as well as his experience in creating commercial music, combine to aid him in creating a wide variety of compositional work.  He has created musical scores for The Oprah Winfrey Show, the animated feature Tugger and has produced a number of collection albums over the years.

            The musical score of The Lion of Judah contains a very centralized theme that is used throughout the entire soundtrack.  The orchestral music used to tell the tale of Judah is often times incredibly beautiful, featuring flute and violin solos laced with both sorrow and a beauty beyond words.  The entire musical score is rather interesting in that as you listen to it, you completely forget that this was a musical score written for an animated film.  The composition is such that you imagine a story of epic proportions - an adventure with danger at every turn.

            I would love to see how this soundtrack actually fits in with The Lion of Judah film.  I canít imagine some of the tracks playing behind the backdrop of animated farm animals.  Despite that, I actually found The Lion of Judah Soundtrack to be an album worth checking out, if only for the beauty of Simsí compositions.  Whether it fits well with the film it was composed for remains to be seen.
