The story starts out with a gruesome murder that leaves several investigators puzzled due to the odd way the body is found. Meanwhile, a young man whose parents are deceased takes up residence with an aunt and uncle for the summer...a summer that will prove deadly.
One of the newest characters, Anthony Sansone, makes an interesting entrance and leaves a lasting impression. I really enjoyed his "Scooby Club" antics. I also think the idea of the Mephisto Club was very interesting and well written.
As with all of Ms. Gerritsen's novels, this one never fails to leave you on the edge of your seat. Reading this book is like watching a thriller movie. Your heart rate is all over the place. Just when it comes down to normal levels, another twist in the plot comes around to shock you.
I have never walked away disappointed by a Rizzoli and Isles novel. Once I finish one, I can't wait to check out the next. So, do yourself a favor, read these books. I love the television series based on the books, but the books are just fantastic - I can't put them down. The Mephisto Club is a must read for any fan of suspenseful thrillers.
