The music of the Dark Knight Trilogy of movies as composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard is immediately striking and not easily forgettable.  On September 4, 2012 Silva Screen Records released a fifteen track downloadable album featuring music from all three films in the series.  A CD version of the album was made available on October 2, 2012

Performed by London Music Works and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Music from the Batman Trilogy features five compositions from each of the three films.  The music is arranged in order of film, with music from Batman Begins followed by that of The Dark Knight and then The Dark Knight Rises.

Throughout this trilogy, I have found the music composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard to be rather enjoyable both as an accompaniment to the films and as standalone music.  But listening to this album as it is arranged I was taken by the beauty of the compositions created for these films.  Featuring adrenaline pumping orchestral tracks with fast-paced, moving strings and heavy percussion, the music of the Dark Knight Trilogy is incredibly moving.  The music builds in both darkness and intensity as the album moves forward and things in Batman's world become more tragic inspiring that much more determination from the hero to succeed.

The music on this album is so moving, if you were to close your eyes and listen to this album, you can picture the orchestra as the music is performed.  You can see the bows flashing back and forth over the strings, the light glancing off the horns as they rise to the occasion and sticks flaring against the various percussion instruments as they pound out the various beats depending on the mood of the Dark Knight himself.  You might even find yourself conducting the orchestra as each piece is performed.

The music of Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars have been performed by live symphonies in concert, why not the music from the Batman Trilogy?  I would love to see that performance, especially if the music were arranged exactly as it is in Silva Screen Recordsí Music from the Batman Trilogy.  This is definitely one album I would recommend getting your hands on.
