With Valentineís Day only a week away, Silva Screen Records digital releases include an album which presents an alternative style for a Gothic Valentineís Day.  My Twisted Valentine is a compilation soundtrack made for the more cynical of the world and features tracks from movies featuring themes that have less to do with love and more to do with obsession.

Performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic, My Twisted Valentine contains fifteen tracks culled from some of the most famous dramatic thrillers of our time, including Psycho, Bram Stokerís Dracula, Marnie, Kill Bill, Vertigo, Bonnie and Clyde, Fatal Attraction and Rosemaryís Baby.  The film selection is what makes this album interesting.  When one hears the title and sees the cover art, one thinks murder and horror films, but this soundtrack compilation contains music from movies that contain neither.  The one thing they all seem to have in common is obsession, whether it is obsessive love, obsessive hate, an obsessive need for vengeance, each film has that one theme in common.

The musical style of each track varies from dramatic to hysterical.  One goes from the stabbing scene in Psycho to a battle scene in Kill Bill, from a waltz in Eyes Wide Shut to high-speed banjos in Bonnie and Clyde to dark, sultry music from Thelma and Louise.  My favorites on this album are Main Theme/ Murder from Psycho (who doesnít love the high pitched screeching of the violins in that track), The Storm from Bram Stokerís Dracula thanks to the low registry chorus singing in Latin about life and blood, the Main Theme of Fatal Attraction and Foggy Mountain Breakdown from Bonnie and Clyde, Ďcause I just canít get enough of them banjos.

My Twisted Valentine provides an interesting compilation of music for those who enjoy the darker side of life.  Available for digital release on February 9, 2010, My Twisted Valentine will be the perfect gift for the cynical, obsessive love of your life.
