Just about anyone who has kids know who Phineas and Ferb are.  The animated series starring two stepbrothers and their outrageous adventures is a Disney Channel Emmy Award-winning comedy series.  I had my first exposure to the Phineas and Ferb craze when I received the Phineas and Ferb Holiday Favorites album and I found them to be quite a lot of fun.

On August 5, 2011, a brand new Phineas and Ferb adventure aired on Disney Channel.  In Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension, the boys discover that Perry, their beloved pet platypus, is actually a secret agent who battles the forces of evil.  Joining him on his latest mission, they travel to another dimension to battle an alternate Dr. Doofenshmirtz who has taken over the alternate dimension Tri-state Area.  When they discover that he has set his sights on their own Tri-state Area, the boys, their friends and alter-egos must band together to stop him.

The soundtrack, Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions, features twenty-two tracks of songs by various artists as well as a collaboration with Guns N' Roses star guitarist, Slash.  As I listened to this soundtrack, I couldn’t help but laugh.  Things started off with Everything's Better With Perry, an ode to Perry the Platypus performed by Robbie Wyckoff with music very reminiscent of the Jackson 5 favorite, I Want You Back.  The descriptions of Perry and what makes him so special were hilarious.  Also hysterical was Brand New Best Friend performed by Dr. Doofenshmirtz and his alter ego.

The music on the soundtrack is a mix of rock, R&B, pop and hip-hop -yes, hip-hop, as witnessed in the song There’s a Platypus Controlling Me.  I loved the Secret Agent Man remake entitled Perry the Platypus performed by Randy Crenshaw.  I also got a kick out of songs like Summer (Where Do We Begin?), What ‘Cha Doin’?, You’re Going Down and Mysterious Force, performed by cast members like Phineas, Candace and Isabella Kick It Up a Notch is a rocking collaboration performed by Phineas and Ferb with guitars by Slash.

The whole album is a great deal of fun and tons of laughs, but if you insert the CD into your computer, there is a whole lot more Phineas and Ferb to check out.  You can watch a music video, check out more Disney Music and more.

Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions is great album for any Phineas and Ferb fan, filled with fun, catchy songs you’ll love singing along with.  This is an album that can be enjoyed by the whole family.  You’ll even find yourself singing some of the songs when your kids are not around.  So check out Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions - you won’t be disappointed…I know I sure wasn’t!
