Coinciding with the release of the new Star Wars video game, Battlefront, and the book Star Wars: Battlefront: Twilight Company, Star Wars Insider Magazine has published a tie-in short story.  Star Wars: Inbrief by Janine K. Spendlove focuses on one particular member of Twilight Company and how she came to join.

In the midst of a rebellion against the Empire, Twilight Company captures a high level governor, hoping to boost recruitment.  Captain Micha Evon is ready to celebrate until he realizes one of his company may not be his ally.  Brand, a dark-skinned human female, has turned ranks, making an attempt to collect the Empire's bounty on Evon's head.  But Evon was apparently ready for this.

As he tries to talk Brand out of collecting her bounty, he reminds her of who she once was.  Yes, Evon has already figured out what makes Brand tick, having thoroughly looked into her background.  He knows what she has suffered, what she is capable of.  And he knows he definitely wants her as part of his team.

I was actually intrigued by this new Star Wars tale, enjoying the flashbacks into Brand's past that explain her actions in the story and her ultimate decision to join Twilight Company.  I was so intrigued that I decided to get my hands on a copy of the new novel, Star Wars: Battlefront: Twilight Company so I can read the further adventures of Brand and Evon.  Great story, excellent artwork and inspiring enough to make me seek the novel it was tied into.  What more can one ask for?
