In the corner of my mind

In the deepest recess

Sits a wounded child

Afraid and alone

Terrified of the world

Unable to commit

Afraid of the pain

She cringes from the unknown

Hiding from everyone

Yet always looming

Like a bad dream

That always returns

The wounded child waits

For the moment

When her deepest fears

Will be realized

She’ll be cast aside
