Dr. Mehmet Oz and Michael Roizen are back with the book You Staying Young: The Owner’s Manual for Extending Your Warranty.  I have happily read all of the “You” books and I have to say that I enjoyed their latest self-help guide as much as the others.  In this book, the doctors take us through the journey of aging and what makes us age, like stress and poor diets.  They show us how to deal with the things that cause aging in our bodies.

I love the fact that they put everything into layman’s terms, so as not to confuse the reader.  Illustrations of interest create a learning experience that is akin to reading a well-illustrated comic book.  Some of the illustrations are actually comical, adding a lighter side to an otherwise serious matter.  Between the creative analogies and pictures, learning complex concepts like cells and genetics becomes as easy as learning your ABCs.

The book not only describes the problems we all face with aging, but it offers solutions as to how to prepare for your Golden Years.  Each chapter begins with a quiz to determine where you are in the aging process in order to see whether you may want to start paying attention to particular signs.  You Staying Young also expresses gender-related aging items, such as prostates for men and estrogen for women.  Each section has suggestions for making the best “You” and the end of the book contains a list of suggested testing, supplements and a workout guide.

You Staying Young: The Owner’s Manual for Extending Your Warranty contains a wealth if information that defines a path for living life in a way that will help you stay young.  This is a book well worth the read.
